If You Want To Be Happy For Your Whole Life Long Become A Gardener
Alta Tingle opened The Gardener in 1984 in a small storefront in Berkeley, California. In 1987, The Gardener moved across the street to its present location, into a space more than triple the size of the original store. A second store opened in Healdsburg, California, in 1998, in a barn surrounded by a large garden. A third store opened in San Francisco in 2003, in the newly-renovated Ferry Building.
The Gardener's Berkeley location has offered customers home and garden goods that celebrate the season. The Fourth Street store is the largest of the three stores and offers a diverse mix of merchandise: tables made from reclaimed wood, salad bowls in all shapes and sizes, vases, baskets and platters to hold your garden's bounty, fresh-smelling soaps and body care, one-of-a-kind cabinets, stools and tables from all over the world, and, of course, a hand-picked selection of perfect gardening tools. A destination for Bay Area residents and visitors, there's always something new to see at the Berkeley store.
